If you are considering breast augmentation, you have found a great website filled with information. The procedure will enhance the breast size and can change the shape of the breast as well.
Saline-filled implants are inserted empty, and then filled once it is in place. One advantage of this type of implant is that it can usually be placed through a small incision. The incision is made as small as possible, either in the breast fold, under the arm (axilla), or around the nipple.
Gel filled implants can be inserted through a small incision at the areola or under the breast fold- either over or under the chest wall muscle. We will discuss more during your personal consultation with our plastic surgeons. What About The Surgery Itself?
We will evaluate your current physical health and health history before scheduling you for surgery. Breast augmentation is elective surgery. Before you proceed, you and your surgeon will have to decide whether the benefits of breast augmentation surgery outweigh the risks in your case.
The surgery will be performed in our facility or a nearby surgery center. The surgery usually lasts one to two hours. General anesthesia is most commonly used.
How Will I Feel After Surgery? You’ll probably feel somewhat tired and sore for several days following the surgery, and your breasts may remain swollen and sensitive for as long as a month. The full results of your augmentation may not be visible until your breast tissue (and muscle) adjusts. You will most likely be able to return to work within a few days, although you should avoid strenuous activity for at least a couple of weeks. We will tell you more about the usual recovery process and any specific recommendations bases on your individual case. Are you a good candidate? There are four characteristics of a good breast augmentation patient:
- She has specific concerns about the size and shape of her breasts.
- She is internally motivated for herself, not pressured by a husband of partner.
- She has realistic expectations for her post-operative condition.
- She realizes that surgery alone is not going to cause a drastic change in her interpersonal relationships.

We use the Keller Funnel
This remarkable yet simple device is used by our plastic surgeons to assist them in placing breast implants into the body. The funnel provides a “no-touch” technique and avoids contact with the patient’s skin which are important factors to consider in breast augmentation surgery.
